Welcome to the website of the
NIGERIA HEALTH
CARE PROJECT

Last update: 29th January 2012

This site tells you about our work and how you can support it.
Nigeria Health Care Project is a registered charity No 1112932
The project was launched in April 1992 in order to revive the work of the Wesley Guild in medical mission, which began at Ilesha Hospital in 1912. From just two (centres) projects in 1992, we are currently involved in funding 18 projects.
Aim:
- To provide primary health care facilities in areas of rural Nigeria which
currently have poor or non-existent services;
- to work with the World Church Office of the Methodist Church in Britain to form a creative partnership with Methodist Church Nigeria

These are some of the babies born at Galadima Health Centre in the north of Nigeria. Their mothers had good antenatal care and safe deliveries thanks to the community health extension workers based at this remote centre. Galadima has been gradually expanding its work. At our 2010 visit we thought that it will benefit from the presence of a doctor who could be employed through the Association of Friends.
New Patron for NHCP
We are delighted that Chief Akindele, a Knight of John Wesley in the Methodist Church Nigeria, philanthropist and businessman has agreed to be Patron of the Nigeria Health Care Project. We will meet him in Lagos in February and look forward to many years of fruitful association with him.
2012 Biennial Visit
A group of Trustees will be in Nigeria from February 4th-18th, visiting all the projects we support. We are looking forward to meeting and encouraging our friends in Nigeria again. We are sure that we will bring back news of progress in many areas, despite the difficulties in the country. Please pray for safe journeys and guidance as we meet with members of Methodist Church Nigeria and plan for the future.
December Appeal
We were able to raise an extra £3000 during December 2011. This means that we were able to send the grants to Nigeria with only a 10% reduction rather than the 20% reduction that looked inevitable before we made the appeal. Many thanks to all those who made it possible.
